1973 Datsun 240Z |
|
|

This is a 1973 Datsun 240Z this was a daily driver with a lot of
aftermarket parts. But the floor pan was rotted beyond driving. After
restoring the unibody we decided to have a little fun with this one…. |
 |

New European style headlights, oversize oil cooler and aluminum
radiator for future V-8 conversion |
 |

Wilwood superlite brakes are fitted with an early model GM master
cylinder for ample stopping power. A Brake Bias valve was also fitted
to the system in the driver’s cockpit. |
|

All lower A arm bushings were removed, the cross member was reworked
to accept a shoulder bolt. Lower A arm was modified with a Heim joint
for caster/camber adjustment |
 |

Radius support arms were reworked for a turnbuckle effect. Heim
joint was then fitted to the stock mounting point. This allows for
caster adjustment. We now have a fully adjustable McPherson strut
front end. |
|

The radius arm boxes were rotted beyond repair. New boxes were fabricated
and carried up 3 inches into the inner fender wheels. |
 |

To help the car from twisting (still thinking about that V-8 conversion)
box tubing was fitted under the car extending backwards to the outside
rear of the cockpit on both sides. An interior cross brace was designed
to hold both seats and connects to the outer tubes, giving us a triangle
effect. I want to be bolted into more than just sheet metal. After
installing the drive shaft a lower tube connects from the seat mounts
to create a drive shaft loop. |
|

This is a stock rebuilt short block, the head received a little
attention and then it was fitted with triple mukunis and a header
hidden under the heat shield.
At this point we are down to picking around with some wiring and
interior pieces. This 240Z will be used as one of our daily drivers
for 2007, driver instruction for SOLO events in the area and or some
track days around New England. |
 |

Racarro bucket seats are fitted to the cockpit area, with a 4-point
roll bar. Duel 5-point harnesses for safety. |
